Anderson "Town Hike"-May 15, 2010

Posted on Apr 28 2010 - 4:45pm

Begin: 8:00 am at Troop 215 hut.....end: sometime between 12:00 and 1:00

Scouts will meet at Troop 215's Hut on West Whitner Street to begin the famous "Town Hike" created by Troop 215 and shared by others. This is a 5-mile hike through the city of Anderson where the boys will practice their compass and pacing skills, visit places of interest (Time Capsule site, Anderson Fire Deptartment, Crater Lake, etc.) and learn to measure heights of objects. It is a great way to get a needed requirement, have fun, and learn about Anderson at the same time. Scouts will need to carry a water bottle and wear good, comfortable hiking shoes. There is no troop fee for this event. However, scouts may want to bring some pocket money in case a stop is made during the hike for a quick pick-me-up snack. This is usually a once a year event, so do your best to make it.
