Tuesday - July 7 - A SCOUT is OBEDIENT
A.M. = Cycling trip-Swamp Rabbit Trail. This trip will be another 15 miler taking scouts from Furman to Falls Park Downtown and back. Angie and Isaac will be picking up AJ and Aidan. All others going need to meet up with Charlean at her house at 8:30 am. Please text Charlean to let her know who is going. Scouts should remember to write the trip up to make sure it counts towards the merit badge. Attached is the form to fill out for this.
***Slight change to troop meeting from discussion after last bicycling trip: Charlean has to attend a Membership Committee meeting for the Council and a couple of scouts are out of town. So, we are changing the Swim Test to next Tuesday, July 14, instead of this week. Scouts that come to the meeting this Tuesday night need to discuss what they want families to bring for Family Day at Camp Old Indian. Please write this down and send to Charlean as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for the meal. Camp OLd Indian is right on us with just this week and next before we go. I need medical forms completed and final payments as soon as possible, so please have them for me on the 14th. I am also attaching the permission form for camp and will give some extra copies to Angie for Tuesday night. Click on " Read More" to see Camp Schedules with MB costs added. Scouts will need MB money at camp.

Tuesday - June 23 - Meeting Canceled

Posted on Jun 20 2015 - 11:15pm

Due to several factors, this Tuesday's meeting is being canceled and there will be no Cycling MB trips this week.
We will resume both cycling trips and the meetings next week. Keep watching for info.
Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there!

Tuesday - June 16 "A SCOUT is KIND"

Posted on Jun 14 2015 - 1:00am

Tuesday - June 16
*We are planning Trip #3 - 15 miles for the Cycling Merit Badge in the morning: Will be sending out a text Monday to see who all is going. On this trip we will be doing some riding downtown and completing requirements that involve riding safely in certain circumstances.
*PM Meeting - Regular meeting. Scouts will be writing up bicycling trips if they have not already done so (it is a requirement to write down route and description of things they see on each ride). After that SPL will head things up.
Don't forget medical forms for camp (see last week's attachments for forms). Also, we need to plan when we can get the swimming requirement tests done for camp. Be thinking of dates you can do this.
Lastly, if we want Camp Arrowhead in August we need to get reservation in ASAP, Available dates at the moment are Aug 21-23 and Aug 28-30. I am leaning towards the first one, it will be the weekend after school starts. What do you all think?

Cycling Merit Badge Trip#1

Posted on Jun 10 2015 - 7:04am

Cycling Merit Badge
This badge requires 7 separate bicycling trips: two 10-milers, two 15-milers, two 25-milers and one 50-miler.
Ms. Angie Hunter has bicycle racing experience and has graciously agreed to be the Counselor for this badge
She and Charlean are planning to lead 2-3 trips each week until all interested scouts have completed the trip requirements for this badge.
Our first trip will be a 10-miler using the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville. This trail has a dedicated bike trail and will be easy to plan trips of different lengths.
Ms. Angie has several extra bikes scouts can use along with some extra helmets. All scouts riding will be required to wear helmets. So, if you have your own bring it.
Trip #1=Meet at Charlean's house at 8:30 am Thursday, June 11
Wear shorts, closed toe tennis shoes and Class B shirt.
Also bring: Bike, HELMET, water bottle, sack lunch/snacks/drink.

Let Ms. Angie (text 864-844-0173) know if you need a bike or helmet and were not at the meeting Tuesday night.
Ms. Angie has a trailer to transport bikes so getting them there shouldn't be a problem.
Print and sign trip Permission Form that is attached or sign one upon arrival.
