Tuesday, August 23 "A SCOUT IS CHEERFUL"
*Ok, I jumped the gun...last week, I told the scouts to be ready to elect a new leaders this Tuesday and be prepared with options for the annual planning. I got a week ahead. IF they want to go ahead and do it this week, then we will....it will be up to them. We also have to make sure we are prepared for camping this weekend at Sadlers Creek area 5. Cost will be $15 per person. If scouts have a friend they want to invite that is interested in joining, they will need to pay $10. It would be good if they could also be at the meeting Tuesday. A Permission Form is attached with details in both Word and pdf form. (Please click Read More below)

Tuesday, August 16  "A SCOUT IS CHEERFUL"
Regular Meeting. Several scouts need Board of Review, so I need some adults to come and stay if possible.
New Scouts still need to SHOW they can do the timber hitch, clove hitch, square lashing, shear lashing, diagonal lashing and make a useful camp gadget using them.
All need to do missing requirements on merit badges if you want them to be presented at the next court of honor.
Coming up:
August 26-28 - Campout at Sadler's Creek = could have some area Webelos joining us; strong possibility of doing a conservation project at the park for Camping MB.
August 30 - Annual Planning and New Troop Leader Elections
September 6 - Cout of Honor

Tuesday, August 9 "A SCOUT IS CHEERFUL"

Tuesday, August 9  "A SCOUT IS CHEERFUL"
Regular Meeting with possibility of Board of Reviews for Aidan, Jackson, Jaylon, Jeremiah, and Michael. Scouts should review what they have done for their rank and make sure they are wearing Class A uniforms. I need several adults present to conduct the Boards as relatives can not conduct boards for their scouts.
Be prepared to work on any rank skills you need as well as give evidence of completing partial merit badges.
For those who still have requirements they need to complete for Camping MB, we can review and/or knock those out during meeting.
Pathfinders still need to show they can do each of the lashings and make a camp gadget.
Don't forget to work on your 9 meals for the Cooking Merit Badge...take pictures and text them to Charlean (864-617-4603) if you can.

Tuesday, August 2 "A SCOUT IS CHEERFUL"
Sorry for the delay in posting...it's been crazy! We will have a regular meeting. I will do my best to have camp results - completions and incompletes - so you will know what you still need to work on. The Pathfinder scouts need to do the Outdoor Code requirement (1c-Tell how you practiced the Outdoor Code on a campout or outing) to pretty much complete Tenderfoot. They also need to learn the Sheet Bend knot and practice the lashings from camp and make a camp gadget for Second Class.
Several Eagle Badges for the older boys need some finishing touches.
We also need to discuss any more car washes, popcorn sales and our possible outing to go tubing/kayaking on August 13.......
Hope to see you all there.
Congrats on Camp Old Indian Awards:
3rd place: Belly Flop
1st place: Can Dive
1st place: Dolphin nose race

1st place: Trash Can Olympics & Winner of the Green Jacket - SM Glenn

Tuesday - July 26, 2016 - A SCOUT IS OBEDIENT

Posted on Jul 23 2016 - 11:35pm

A Great week at Camp Old Indian...I hope you all enjoyed it!!
We will NOT meet this Tuesday due to SM Glenn being on 3rd shift and I will be recuperating from some dental work. Please be in attendance on Tuesday, August 2!!
We will be discussing another car wash (need money for merit badges earned at camp) as well as a possible outing to Green River Tubing, Saluda, NC for August 13.
I know popcorn is a sore subject, but if you got an order form, go ahead and try to get some orders. We can possibly get it in September, but it will definitely come by early November.
Roxanna said she would set up some show and sell locations and be there for boys to sell, but we would like to have some commitment....Popcorn has the highest return value for earning money for the unit.
Later in August we will be doing leader elections and our annual planning, so be thinking about the kind of outings you want to do.
Have a well-deserved break and come back fresh August 2!!
